Reading Shenzhen Through Models, Light, and Space
Entering the 2021 Shenzhen Urban Planning Exhibition, I was immediately drawn to the panoramic digital cityscape and enormous models, where coastlines, transport corridors, dense districts, parks, and waterways transformed abstract planning into a spatial story that visitors could walk around, compare, and understand while imagining how the metropolis might evolve.
The official planning bureau notes that exhibition materials at the Museum of Contemporary Art and Planning Exhibition were collectively communicated through display panels, video, multimedia, and public forums; together with the black ceiling, angled structure, mirrored forms, and luminous white models shown in the photographs, this made me realize that good planning is not merely a beautiful forecast, but an ongoing negotiation among land, ecology, mobility, industry, and everyday life.
