Initiated by the Taoyuan Department of Cultural Affairs, the “Revitalizing Matsu New Village Cultural and Creative Base” experimental residency program brings together experts, scholars, and outstanding artists to create interdisciplinary works in film, visual art, theatre, and cultural design. Through dialogues among the natural environment, historical memory, the spirit of place, and artistic creation, the project seeks to renew the old military dependents’ village, expand public-space experiences, and gather cultural energy.

 

Its spatial narrative expresses “interactive reflection” through architectural lines, vivid visual segments, and black-and-white silent-film imagery. Visitors move through the preserved setting as if entering a documentary, where contemporary clarity intersects with historical emotion. Without altering the original character, the design evokes village life, layered memories, and overlapping periods of time, revealing the richness and complexity of the military dependents’ village experience.
