Urban Remnants: Regenerated Public Art from HDPE Drainage Pipes

 

This project begins with leftover HDPE drainage pipes from architectural construction. Materials that were once hidden inside walls, floors, and underground infrastructure are transformed into a public street installation that can be seen, approached, and used.

 

HDPE pipes originally carry the daily flow and circulation of water within the city, yet they are rarely noticed by the public. Through recycling, cutting, reassembling, and color translation, these construction remnants are no longer treated as waste. Instead, they become part of the city’s cultural memory and visual experience.

 

This project is not only about material regeneration, but also about redesigning public culture. It turns the street into an exhibition space, construction leftovers into artwork, and urban infrastructure from background into foreground. The installation invites citizens to imagine new relationships among environment, architecture, circular economy, and everyday urban life.

 

城市餘脈：HDPE排水管再生公共藝術

 

本案以建築工程中裁切後剩餘的HDPE排水管餘料為材料起點，將原本隱藏於牆體、地坪與地下管線中的排水系統，重新轉化為可被看見、可被接近、可被使用的公共街道裝置藝術。

 

HDPE管材原本承載城市日常的水流與循環，卻通常不被市民注意；透過回收、切割、重組與色彩轉譯，這些建築餘料不再只是廢棄物，而成為城市文化記憶的一部分。

 

本案不僅是材料再生，更是一種公共文化的再設計。它讓街道成為展場，讓餘料成為作品，讓城市基礎設施從背景走向前景，提供市民一個關於環境、建築、循環經濟與城市生活的開放性想像。
