Re-Pipe Seating: A Circular Public Chair

 

This design transforms discarded plastic pipe offcuts from construction processes into a functional and visually engaging public seating system. Inspired by the soft, rounded form of a doughnut, the chair creates a friendly and approachable image while allowing users to sit, lean, rest, or interact with it in different ways. Its modular structure supports multiple height options, making it suitable for children, adults, and various public space scenarios. The mixed recycled material produces unique speckled textures on the surface, preserving the visual memory of its previous life and turning waste into an aesthetic feature. 

 

More than a piece of furniture, this chair becomes a small public installation that connects sustainability with everyday experience. By extending the life of plastic pipe waste, the design improves material efficiency, reduces unnecessary disposal, and demonstrates how circular design can create both environmental and social value.

管線再生・共享甜圈

 

本設計以施工過程中產生的塑膠水管餘料為起點，將原本被視為廢棄物的 PE 管材，轉化為兼具實用性、美學性與公共互動性的座椅。外型以甜甜圈般的圓潤造型為靈感，柔和的曲面降低公共家具的距離感，也讓使用者能以坐、靠、倚、休憩等不同方式自由使用。產品採用可拆組結構，並透過不同高度設定，對應兒童遊戲、成人休息與公共空間短暫停留等多元情境。

 

表面的混色斑點保留再生材料的痕跡，使每件作品都具有獨特紋理，也呈現資源循環的真實美感。此設計不只是椅子，更是一種將廢料重新納入生活場景的公共設施，讓環保不再只是概念，而能透過日常互動被看見、被使用，進一步推動循環經濟與綠色創新。
