Floating Timber: A Dining Table in Balance

 

This dining table and bench design explores the balance between solidity and lightness. The thick wooden tabletop and bench express warmth, stability, and the natural texture of timber, while the transparent acrylic support on one side creates a quiet sense of suspension. From certain angles, the structure almost disappears, allowing the wooden volume to appear as if it is floating above the floor.

 

The contrast between solid wood and clear acrylic becomes the core design language. Wood brings a grounded and intimate dining atmosphere, while acrylic introduces light, reflection, and visual transparency. The hidden and exposed connections add subtle detail without disturbing the clean form. Through this composition, the dining table is no longer only a functional object, but a spatial gesture that invites gathering, conversation, and a refined sense of calm in everyday life.

 

浮木之境・透明支撐的餐敘風景

 

本案為餐桌椅設計，以「厚實木質」與「透明壓克力」之間的對比，創造出兼具穩定感與浮空感的餐敘場景。桌面與長椅採用厚板木質量體，保留柚木的自然木紋的溫潤肌理，使空間呈現安定、沉穩且親近生活的氛圍；單邊則以透明壓克力作為支撐，透過材質本身的穿透性與折射效果，弱化結構存在，讓桌板在視覺上彷彿懸浮於地面之上。

 

設計將支撐結構轉化為光影的一部分，使家具不再只是被使用的物件，而成為空間中具有表情的視覺焦點。透明材質在不同角度下時隱時現，與木質的厚度形成輕重對話，也讓餐桌在日常使用中產生細膩的層次變化。整體造型簡潔俐落，沒有過度裝飾，藉由材質、比例與結構細節，營造出低調而精緻的生活美學，讓用餐、交流與停留都成為安靜而富有質感的日常片刻。
