Seven Fire Towers: A Ritual of Light, Structure, and Landscape
 
Located in Guilin, Guangxi, Seven Fire Towers transforms the memory of local intangible cultural heritage into a series of contemporary spatial installations. The project takes “fire” not only as a visual symbol, but also as a cultural metaphor: gathering, protection, ritual, warmth, and collective memory. Each tower explores a different architectural language through fabric, metal, frame, reflection, suspension, and enclosure, creating seven distinct interpretations of the same cultural origin.
 
Set within an open industrial ruin, the installations respond to the existing concrete structure, the surrounding mountains, vegetation, water surface, and changing daylight. The contrast between light structures and heavy ruins creates a dialogue between past and present, nature and construction, permanence and temporality. Visitors are invited to walk around, observe, enter, and experience the towers from multiple perspectives. Their reflections on the water extend the forms into the landscape, turning the site into a quiet ceremonial field.
 
Rather than simply displaying regional culture, the work translates it into space, material, and atmosphere, allowing Guangxi’s cultural memory to be reimagined through contemporary architectural expression.
 

七座火塔:山水之間的非遺空間儀式
 
「七個火塔」位於廣西桂林,由非常建筑設計,作品以廣西非遺文化為概念起點,將「火」轉化為空間、結構與感知經驗。火在此不只是燃燒的意象,也象徵聚集、守護、祭儀、溫度與地方記憶。七座裝置分別以不同形式呈現,有如帳篷、塔架、圓筒、金屬反射體與懸浮線構,透過布料、金屬、框架與半透明材料,展現火焰、煙霧、光影與聚落精神的多重想像。
 
作品設置於帶有工業遺構感的場域中,粗獷的混凝土柱廊與遠方桂林山水形成強烈對比。輕盈的裝置被置入厚重的結構之間,使自然景觀、舊建築與當代設計產生對話。水面的倒影延伸了火塔的形體,也讓裝置在真實與虛像之間產生流動感。觀者可從不同角度靠近、觀看、停留,感受材料、尺度與光線變化。
 
整體設計並非直接複製傳統符號,而是將非遺文化轉譯為可被觀看、行走與體驗的空間詩意,使地方文化在當代場景中重新被感知與記憶。
